Last night was a very inspiring night for me and individuals across the globe. I am amazed by how many people in Canada are as moved by Barack Obama as American's. Barack Obama is the only thing the DJs talked about today and every one of my clients also mentioned the election - Truthfully, I just think they are jealous..... And so they should be!
A few of my favorite lines in Obama's speech -
"I'm asking you to believe. Not only in my ability to bring about real change in Washington...I'm asking you to believe in yours."
"And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand."
"I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It belongs to you. It belongs to you."
"And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."
I heards this song today and realized how perfectly is depicts my emotions today-
If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas from sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA
There's pride in every American heart and it's time we stand and say
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I am free
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the USA

ReplyDeleteI may not agree with Obama's policies, but I do feel like we can become more united under him. He is very inspiring.
I am also proud that the American public voted in an African-American president.
I had no idea that Canada was following this election so closely!
Sucker,
