We have had an eventful week....
On Wednesday, out of the blue, Matt's boss decided to lay him off and outsource all of his work instead. Matt was devistated but, being the great husband that he is, Matt still brought me home flowers and great birthday card. He had planned a birthday weekend for me in Whistler and since he had already paid for everything, we figured we should enjoy it. So, as bummed as we were, off we went. After a 2 hour ferry ride and 1.5 hour drive later, we were in Whistler.
We couldn't have asked for better weather, which was very unexpected. It was so WARM! On Saturday we grabbed our coats and headed out the door. Little did we know that most of the people in the village were wearing T-shirts and tank tops. By our 2nd walk of the day we knew what to wear. I wore flip flops for the first time this year!!
We really enjoyed ourselves, but now it's back to reality.....
That is uber lame - the laid of part, not Whistler. It is so beautiful there and isn't it a glorious day when you can slip your feet into some flip flops? It is so warm here today and then supposed to drop 30 degrees tomorrow and I am not happy about it. I am glad you guys had a good time and you had a good birthday. I hope things work out for you and Matt. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow fun for a birthday weekend! I'm so sorry about the laying off part...bummer. But, sometimes closed doors mean better open doors....
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful weekend at Whistler...sorry it had to start off with Matt's bad news. Did they give him a severance (sp?) package or anything? I will be praying that something bigger and better comes your way soon. Sometimes reality isn't much fun, is it? Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great attitude you have! I'm glad you still went out and had fun inspite of bad news. Life is a journey to be enjoyed not just endured. I've adopted a motto - "what's next?"! I've learned that through every experience good and bad that there is something to be learned and will make me a better stronger person. Trials have humbled me and brought me closer to the Lord.
ReplyDeleteIt's sounds like Whistler was fantastic. Sorry about the lay off. Something better will come your way.
