I know this may sound kind of funny, but I am SO excited to finally have a bed! We have been sleeping on our mattress on the floor for 7-8 months now. We didn't bring our old furniture with us from Seattle, so we had to save up to buy new stuff. We left the bed to the end, which I would never suggest to anyone. I can't believe how much better rested we are now. Yea for sleep!!
And for all of my creative friends, I need help with decorating. Our furniture is dark brown and the reds and creams are going to stay, but I need to add accent pieces or pillows or something. Any thoughts?? (remember I live on an island, so I don't have much access to shopping)

Lis!!!!! Beds are good!! Good to see you on here!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I love your new bed! I couldn't tell from my computer if it is dark wood or black, but it is gorgeous either way. I don't know how creative I am, but my favorite accent color with red and cream is cinnamon! If you get Pottery Barn catalog up there, they usually have a good selection of accents in browns and reds. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new bed! It looks fantastic - I love our bed but one day we hope to own a temperpedic. I don't know what stores you have up there, but I just got some cute pillows for my couch from Pier One and Pottery Barn. I like red and brown or black together and as much as I am not a gold person - I really like a little gold with red. It kind of makes it look asian/oriental...anywho, good luck and sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteLisa!! I'm so glad you left me a comment. Are you loving Canada? I have the same problem you have with living on an island... where's my pottery barn?? Hmm, my suggestion... you need a complimentary color with your reds and creams. I might go with a sage green, or a brownish green. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI love your bed! Where did you get it... I have been looking for something similar for almost 2 years. LEt me know if you come up with any decorating ideas, our apartment is red, cream and brown so any ideas will help. How is the island? Are you guys comeing home for christmas?
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I really like it. Jared and I just happened to buy a new bed too. Except we are waiting to set it up when we move on out of here! I'm excited for you, because I know how excited I am for mine! Thanks for your sweet post about Jareds job. Love ya.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that is a good idea!!! :) Dogs are rad. They are pretty much our kids and well... pretty much that is the way it will always be. I don't think I could deal with kids... you can smack these guys and not feel bad about it..haha.. just kidding...... but Bulldogs are something else. We are still deciding on whether or not to spay our little English Bulldog Daisy... she's a brat
ReplyDeletebeautiful bed!!! I'd go with a greenish accent :) LOL that was a lot of help!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I just saw this layout in a magazine that used orange as an accent with reds and creams. It totally made the colors pop. Might be fun for summer? :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE, love, LOVE your bed. LOVE it. I would pick out the exact one. I'm no decorator, but I can shop. Have you checked out overstock.com? Also, I went to a Southern Living at Home party the other day--oh my gosh! They have some awesome stuff. I'm not sure how the shipping would be to Canada, but if nothing else maybe just to get some ideas--southernlivingathome.com.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you find anything really good!
Lisa - With your dark furntiure Red is the way to go. I would just keep the Red and Creme. Deep Chocolate Brown is really in right now in fabrics. So, that will be an easy one to find. I would get some metal wall grilles or good ole' Vinly lettering. Check out my website at www.DecorativeConceptsOnline.com and you will see some ideas for vinyl lettering and wall grilles. I would put it above yourto go bed. Drapiers also do everything to a bedroom. It looks like you just need to bring in more red colors with patterns in them. If you put too many colors, it won't look put together. Comformity and comfort is the key. Good luck! Decorating is such a personal thing. So, do what makes you feel good.
