All I could do was laugh at myself today. I definitely had a bad case of the MUNdays! And I didn't even have to go to work today. Small side note - I work Tuesday-Saturday, so my days off are Sunday and Monday. Like may other wives, I tend to spend at least one of my days off cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. I started my day doing three batches of dishes, because Matt and I were super lazy this weekend when it came to dishes. After getting through all the dishes (without a dish washer) and scrubbing the kitchen floor, I thought it would be a good idea to cook a few things to have in the fridge (Matt eats alot) and then clean out the fridge. Well, I kind of accomplished my goal. I am normally a pretty good cook and don't remember the last time I burned something (maybe back in college) but today I burned most everything I cooked. Then while I was cleaning the fridge I managed to spill soup all over the fridge and the floor I had just cleaned.
Time to leave the kitchen and move onto to the rest of the house. I scrubbed down the bathroom, dusted and moved onto the laundry. As the first load was ready to go into the dryer I realized that the dryer was full of laundry (probably from last Monday). And there were the pants I have been looking for ALL week. Really?? I should have thought to look there, oh well. After the three loads of laundry and taking out the garbage, I was feeling good.
Great, Matt is gone for the day and I have finished everything I needed to do; I think I deserve some down time. So, I thought - I would love to get some sort of workout in (other than scrubbing the floors) and it looks nice outside...... Great idea - I will go for a walk. I could walk to one of our local book stores, browse a bit, grab a hot drink, maybe even endulge in a gossip magazine while I'm there and then walk home. Guilty pleasure, exercise, fresh air - Sounds like a good plan to me!
So, I bundle up, just in case, (the weather here has been a bit unpredictable lately) and head out the door. To my surprise it isn't freezing and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Man my luck is turning around! I'm really soaking in and enjoying my walk, even take a detour through a wooded area with tons of wildlife I had never been through before. And before I know it I am at the bookstore. I am so excited to browse and the new bestsellers, flip through the clearance section (nope I haven't changed) and grab a magazine to read with my drink. As I round the corner of the building I notice it looks a little dark inside and then I see the CLOSED sign. NO, really?!? I am still not used to the stupid retail Canada hours (refer to this post)
I guess that throws my plan down the drain. At least Starbucks is still open, so I grab a drink for my walk home. As I open the door I realize that, out of nowhere, it has begun to down pour. Now you may be thinking, no problem, just wait a few minutes for it to die down. Nope, it doesn't work that way here. When it rains, it rains!
My entire relaxing walk and idea of endulgence has been distroyed and to top it all off I have to walk back home in the rain. Needless to say it sucked. I got splashed more than once by cars driving through puddles and I was freezing by the time I got home. And I kept thinking, with everything that had gone on today, a nice hot bath would be great. Oh did I forget to mention that we don't have a bath tub?!? Yep it's true, no bathtub.
So.......Monday sucked but there is always tomorrow. I've just gotta keep my head up (and prayer for Spring to come quicker)
