I hear stories about "stupid" Americans who don't know which country is south of the US or whether Canadians still live in igloos, but I know these people exist. I found it very refreshing to hear about "stupid" Canadians too. This experience had me rolling on the ground laughing.
After a coworker of mine spent the day at a project with our boss she returned to the office with one question.... "Is Barack Obama a color of granite I don't know about? I hear about it every where." I can only begin to imagine where that question came from. Really, come on...? Not only does she not know who he is, but she didn't even clue in to the fact that it is a human being's name. That one takes the cake for me!
Now back to politics - I think Barack made a great choice. Joe Biden is definitely someone who shares his voice and seems to do things in the same manor. I do have to say that his son Beau's speech and introduction of him at the convention was a bit cheesy for me. I know Joe is a great dad and that he lost his wife and daughter, but I felt that was played up a bit much. I wish Americans could have learned more about his previous policy decisions and what he has specifically done to get where he is now. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing my own research and hope others do the same before they make their decision as to who they will vote for.
On to McCain - He actually managed to surprise me. I didn't think the old guy had it in him. I think it will take a day or two for the news to sink in, but I am excited to learn more about Sarah Palin. The one thing I am sure of is that this choice is an attempt by McCain to siphon off women who supported Hillary Clinton. And as someone who isn't a big fan of Hillary, I am glad there is another woman in the national political spotlight.
I look forward to learning more about all the candidates and making an informed decision in November. Til then I would love to hear your thoughts on this fun political season...

Thanks for the political info...I have to admit, I knew the running mates have been announced, but I haven't learned much about them...yet. K but I'm confused...your Canadian now, but can vote in the US? I obviously know nothing about this business...lol.
ReplyDeleteI hear you are coming to town next weekend? I'll be there!
ReplyDeleteYou should check Sarah Reale's blog. She has a Stephen Colbert quote about Palin as a political ploy. Classic!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I love your non-partisan look at the vice presidential choices. I'll admit that during election season I put a ban on the news. I just can't stand the sensationalism masked as "fair and unbiased" journalism. But I digress . . . I like your call for us to do our own research. It's the only way to find at least one grain of truth in this whole political circus!
Yes, let's talk more as this develops!
PALIN PALIN PALIN!!!! I want her to be my mom and my VP.
